WebCT How To
Banner
Adding a banner to the top of your Art Gallery or Student Blog is very simple. In fact, you have three options:
- No banner at all
- A plain text banner
- Uploading your own banner
Let's go through it step-by-step.
If you cannot get to the Student Homepages, click here.
1. Select Modify/Add banner image from the drop-down menu.
2. Now your screen will look like this:
Notice that you have no banner at this time. Let's make a plain text banner first.
Text Banner
1. Select the Use Text option and type in the words you want to appear on the banner. Then press the [Continue] button.
2. Now you have a banner identical or similar to the one below.
Remember, you can have the banner say whatever you want.
Uploading a Banner
The text banners are okay, but I have always preferred something unique that no one else would have. There is a way for you, too, to have an individual banner on your page.
1. First you must find a banner that you like from the Internet (I would open a new Internet window so you do not lose WebCT). Go to a search engine (I prefer www.Google.com), and type something like "welcome banners". For the sake of keeping it simple, I will use this site.
2. Find the banner you like and right click on the image. Select Save picture as... and save the banner to your computer. I usually create a new folder in "My Documents" so that all my images are together in one place and easily accessible later on.
3. Now return to WebCT and select Modify/Add banner image from the drop-down menu.
4. This time, select the Upload a file option and press the [Continue] button.
5. Your screen should look like this now. Press the [browse] button.
6. Now you have to find your banner image on your computer. Select the image and press [Open].
7. Press the [Continue] button.
8. Now you have your own, unique banner. It will look like one of the following:
On tan background
On white background
On yellow background
On gray background
If you are ready to continue, let us move on to adding a Background.
